The First Step - Intake and Assessment

The Intake and Assessment Program combines two services already available in Pennsylvania. The essential component of this program is that it combines the traditional assessment service with a residential placement. Juvenile courts have the option of placing an adolescent in the Intake and Assessment Program, knowing that ARC is committed to providing long term care for the youth. This service should be of particular interest to those courts that refer youth for diagnostic services.

The second unique aspect of this new service is the 45-day assessment program. Juvenile courts will have the opportunity to place a youth in this program and receive a ten page assessment evaluation that will include specific and detailed recommendations. Any youth accepted into the assessment component of the program will be accepted into treatment by ARC, if the assessment report recommends residential placement and the juvenile court agrees with the recommendation.

Children Served in Pennsylvania:

  • Court adjudicated delinquent
  • Adolescent Males & Females
  • Once the profile is determined, a referral process can be established which provides an outline of the necessary information needed to evaluate the youth, as well as preadmission interview with both students and their parents.
