Beginning January 1, 2013, A.R.C. took over operation of Schaffner Shelter Care Program in Dauphin County. This program was developed to provide services for short-term, shelter care to dependent, pre-adjudicated and delinquent males and females with a maximum of 24 beds. The youths served range are 11 up to 19 years of age. Emergency care and short-term services are provided in an open environment in accordance with the statutes and regulations of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This closely supervised setting fosters the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional support of the residents. It is designed to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect at the hands of others and from harming themselves.
